Alliance Leveling Guide Review - Brian Kopp's Alliance Leveling Guide

There are many World of Warcraft leveling guides on the market. One of the oldest around is Brian Kopp's Alliance Leveling Guide. For years this guide held a reputation as the best on the market for Alliance players. But with the advent of new guides like Zygor's leveling guides and the Team iDemise WoW guides, is it still worth buying? I'll review the newest version of this guide in this article!

For those unfamiliar with leveling guides and how they work, I'll give a quick explanation. The first thing to understand is that questing is the fastest way to level. Instancing takes too much preparation time, and grinding is not only slower, but soul-crushingly boring. So it is always best to quest. But just wandering around doing quests isn't as fast as other options. So, you need a leveling path, so you don't waste time doing quests that don't give adequate rewards, and so you don't miss out on good quests. Alliance leveling guides like Brian Kopp's will give you the information you need to optimize your questing.

Now, how does the questing path in Brian Kopp's guide compare to other guides? Well, it isn't bad. Most guides follow fairly similar paths. This guide also provides solid leveling information that varies based on starting areas, another common feature of good guides. And it doesn't have the problem that some guides do, where it sends you to do quests that were easy for the writer's class but might be difficult for others.

So what other criteria should we judge it by? Well, there is the addon that comes with it. This kind of addon comes standard with all decent Alliance leveling guides and Horde leveling guides, so it isn't a surprise that Kopp's guide has one too. But it is of a fairly barebones nature, lacking compared to newer guides.

Possibly the biggest weakness of the guide is in fact how bare bones it is compared to other guides. It can get you from one to eighty fast enough, but it doesn't extend itself or aim for greatness like other guides. It doesn't include gold guides, PvP guides, class-specific leveling information, or anything else that the best new guides provide. So if you consider the nature of the World of Warcraft Alliance Leveling guide market, I can't really suggest it as a purchase. There are just too many better options.
